Monk Abel’s last concert in Varna on June 18th!

The long-awaited concert of the virtuoso pianist Monk Abel will take place at the FCC Varna on June 18th. This will be a unique and likely his final appearance in the history of the marine capital. The audience will have the extraordinary opportunity to hear live, masterful performances of both classical and contemporary music under the title “Eternal Love”.

Before taking monastic vows, Father Abel graduated with honors from the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory. However, a severe car accident cut short the promising career of the young pianist at its very start. The tragedy he endured directed the injured youth toward a spiritual quest, which led him to the monastic republic of Mount Athos in Greece.
The brotherhood of the Docheiariou Monastery, led by the Abbot Elder Gregory (Zumis), welcomed him into their ranks with the monastic name Abel. On Mount Athos, the musician seemed to remain in the past, and in his place, a builder-intellectual monk was born. There followed 7 years of heavy physical labor, with time for sleep and rest lasting a mere 20 minutes per day. The world witnessed a part of this moving story in the documentary film “Where Are You, Adam?”. What seems impossible for man is possible for God.

On the monastery’s attic, Monk Abel found an old piano and received a blessing from his elder to return to music. Thus, in 2024, his first major concert in Bulgaria took place – in the packed Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK). Today, Monk Abel performs in concerts all over the world to bring comfort to people and to play for the glory of God.
Do not miss this unique opportunity! We look forward to seeing you at the FCC Varna on Thursday, June 18th, at 7:00 PM.
