For the first time after leaving Russia, actors Dmitry Nazarov and Olga Vasilyeva will take the stage in Bulgaria, Sofia with the program “L’amour-mour or a Topsy-Turvy State”.
Having performed for more than 20 years at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, Dmitry Nazarov, winner of theatre awards, famous TV and film actor, and Olga Vasilyeva, honored artist of the Russian Federation, “an actress of intense temperament and charm”, who also played dozens of roles in the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater and starred in films such as “The Conquest of Siberia”, “Barkhanov and his Bodyguards”, the series “Kitchen” and “Vyzov”, will come out to the audience and tell their story.
For about a year, Nazarov has been clearly stating his anti-war position on his YouTube channel. As Olga Vasilyeva said, “It is good that we are against murder, lies and slavery. It’s good that we find the strength to speak”. The actors who managed to turn their characters into real, recognizable favorites of the public could not compromise their principles.

In the summer of 2022, in a joint interview with Novaya Gazeta Europe the actors admitted that they were mastering the long-forgotten Aesopian language. the language of fables, sarcasm, irony and civil disobedience. Nazarov and Vasilyeva remained in Russia as long as there was an opportunity to work in the theater and hoped that they would be able to convey their thoughts and feelings to the audience.
152 times the actor appeared on the stage of the Moscow Art Theater in the play “Forest” as Nestchastlivtsev, and his monologue in defense of “noble artists” against the hypocritical inhabitants of the “forest” sounded strong, uncompromising and convincing until January 2023, when Nazarov and Vasilyeva were fired from the theatre. It also became known that Nazarov would be cut out of the already filmed scenes of the new film adaptation of 12 Chairs, where he was supposed to play the role of Kisa Vorobyaninov, and the episodes with Olga Vasilyeva as Elena Bour would not be included in the film.
Fearing for their safety, the actors could not return to their homeland, but they continue their work: they record social commentary fables, songs, and poems. For the first time after leaving the Russian Federation, the actors will go on stage in Israel. The program “L’amour-mour or a Topsy-Turvy State” will feature poems and fables, author songs, romances and covers.
